rainy day
Today I woke up (relatively) early and ate breakfast and helped my grandma around the house. It was super rainy so I also was inspired to do some drawing. :)

Grass, man
Today was Mother's Day! Happy mom day to all the wonderful moms out there. :)
Today I did homework and watched a movie that I've been meaning to watch for forever, The Devil Wears Prada. I vaguely remember reading the book a few years ago, but I had forgotten the plot. It was an ok movie I suppose.
But I got to skype with my friend for three hours. I miss Montanans.
Something funny that I noticed while walking today was that the lawns here are much less fancily kept than the classic American lawn. Most open spaces look like this here:
Which I think is very pretty and very energy-conscious. (I can't English anymore, the word I'm looking for is Energie-sparend but I seem to have forgotten the English meaning) No extra watering is required (sprinklers can make up to 50% of a house's water bill!), and you don't have to spend the time or pay someone to mow it all the time! Plus there are literally flowers everywhere, which is just generally easier on the eyes.

Cinderella
Today I just hung out at home and did homework and helped my grandma with the computer. She now knows how to operate the simple functions of word and I'm proud of her. :)
This evening I went and saw Cinderella with Lara and Cecilia. It was good and basically exactly how you'd expect a fairy tale movie to be. I liked it.

Into the woods
Today I went with Lara and Cecilia to go see Into the Woods. It's some mashup type thing of a bunch of fairy tales. It's not amazing but it wasn't bad either. Yay for almost spring!

How to Internet
Today I spent an hour teaching my grandma how to click the mouse and use the Internet. It was pretty adorable.

Happy Caturday
Today I hung out with Lara and did homework. We played Mariokart and watched The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I've watched it about 5 times now and if highly recommend watching it. It's funny, I tried reading the book but I hated it. But the movie is excellent.

Hello NSA
Today I went to the grocery store and the cheese store with my Opa. It saddens me how slowly he walks. He hates going outside and literally spends all day on the couch watching television. It follows logically that he's not in exactly the best shape. So what takes me five minutes to walk took us 25 minutes today. Including breaks. At least he isn't in a wheelchair yet.
I spent the rest of the day helping my grandma around the house & doing homework. Then my grandma and I went into Zurich to see the new movie "Citizen Four". It's about the whole Edward Snowden NSA spying scandal in 2013. The scary thing is how many people and how much data it encompasses. It's mind-blowingly, incomprehensible and almost flat-out unbelievable that the whole thing, all those secrets, are not some science fiction story, but real life. I would definitely recommend seeing it. Woo politics.

Gift money & movie:)
Today i went into Zurich with Lara and Cecilia and went shopping with the money my grandma gave me for Christmas. Thanks, Grammy! <3
I think I found one of my favorite sweatshirts ever:
And in the evening we went over to uncle Ralph and Aunt Claudia's and watched a movie:) Time is flying by... Only 5 months until I come home? What?

Math final & movie night
Today I went to the Zurich International School and took my final test for my online math class. It was not fun. But I think I did pretty well on it.
And then after dinner I Skyped with my mom<3, and then Lara came over and we ate cookie dough and watched "The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud". It stars Zach Efron. Enough said. It was fun. Happy Saturday!

Stephanitag??
In Switzerland (and I don't know how may other countries) the 26th of December is another holiday, called St. Stephens Day. That means everyone has another day off of work and such. So happy Stephanitag!
Tonight we went to my Aunt & Uncle's and ate leftovers from Christmas dinner. Then we were made to watch a movie called Doctor Zhivago. It's a movie set in Russia during the Russian Revolution and it's super long. I didn't particularly enjoy it. We watched it because one of the main characters is named Lara, and my cousin's name is Lara. Also, her friend Lara was named after the Lara in the movie, which is pretty cool.

Mockingjay!
Today I got up late and did assorted chores throughout the day. Then at 8 I went to see the new Hunger Games movie, Mockingjay Part 1, with my class. It was so good, even though it was in German... :/ I got home really late though... But I can't wait for Part 2, especially because I'll get to see it with my friends back home.
Something that I found super duper wacky about the movie was that there was an intermission! They literally stopped the movie right in the middle of a sentence and started it right back up again after 15 minutes. It was so weird. The reason, of course, is money... Everyone gets up at that time to get popcorn and snacks and such. Apparently all movies here are like that. Gah.
