(There are a bunch more that came out really well which makes me super happy!)

Pictures & sunburn!
Today we had a super early out at 10:30, so two friends and I went to the lake to take pictures! We ended up going home way earlier than we expected because it was too hot to concentrate. But we got some really pretty pictures!

PENTATONIX
Today was a normal Wednesday, which means a half day, and after going home & dropping off my school stuff, I went right back into Zurich to wait in line for 2 hours with 4 other girls from my class to see Pentatonix! (Google them if you don't know who they are, you won't regret it..) We basically sat on the ground the whole time we were waiting, eating and talking. But showing up so early was worth it because we were fourth in line. That meant when the doors opened we were in the fourth row ish (standing-it was in a club so no seats..) and standing/dancing to the radio for another 2 hours, they finally came on stage and performed for another two hours. It was amazing. I'm completely hoarse and my feet hurt so bad... But it was super fun! I sound a bit crazy-but believe me, it was worth it! They are just as good live as on any recording... And they did one song without microphones, where the audience was dead silent. It was so beautiful. I'm so happy that they decided to come to Zurich while I'm here!
Ten minutes after I got home I went on Instagram and saw that there was a new picture on their official Instagram... That they had taken during the show... And I'm in it!

Sleepover!
Today we got let out of school early! Four of us then went to a girl names Jessica's house and had a sleepover there:) We had almost all never seen Titanic, so our excuse for the sleepover was to watch that. We made fajitas and ate lots of chocolate. And watched Titanic of course. I personally didn't like it that much. Can't really explain why. *shrugs* Oh well. We went to bed about 2 am? I think?:)

April Fools Day!
Happy day of foolery!
Today I went to the Technorama (sciency hands-on center place idk) after school with some other people from different math classes... I thought it was pretty boring. Which is really sad because I was really really looking forward to going!
The part that was kind of interesting was the workshop that we did as a class, where we worked with liquid nitrogen and frozen CO2 (dry ice!) and fire and lots of snazzy stuff. But I picked a bad partner who had no sense of wonder apparently. She would perform the experiment, go "neat." And move on. Hello? You just did this sequence of events that led to this thing suddenly erupting into flames??? Does that not make you want to stop and think for two seconds why? It's not like they were tricky experiments. Whoah, look, a glowing piece of steel wool burns like crazy when you put it into a flask with a bunch of oxygen. I wonder why. Duh. So that was a mistake. Oh well. Lab coats and goggles are always fun, I guess.
And I feel like the actual permanent displays were not that interesting. I was impressed at how much stuff there was to look at and fiddle with, but it was also still quite simple. It would definitely help someone trying to learn or understand basic math or science. Multiple visual representations of Pythagoras's Theorem that you can twist and take apart etc etc are definitely useful. Oh well! I went and spent an afternoon somewhat stimulating my brain. Example: what kind of mathematical formulas do they program this magnet-controlled ball with so that it creates beautiful, perfect patterns in the sand and how does that translate to the machine actually moving the magnet around? Sadly this was not explained on the plaque.
That turned into a rant pretty quickly. Oops. I guess I'm just sick of stupid people.
Tomorrow I'm going to a friend's house for a sleepover because we don't have school Friday or Monday because of Easter! Yippee! :)

Happy sunny day!
Today was absolutely gorgeous weather-wise. I believe it said around 45-50 degrees Fahrenheit, which is really nice for March. It was so warm we sat outside for lunch:)
Today we got to go to school an hour later because our math teacher got sick, so I left the house at 9am and didn't have to be at school until 10. It's so cool to wake up in the morning and then walk down to the bahnhof and then to the tram in the morning when everything's waking up, and then again after school. I'm really going to miss so many things when I go back home.

Springgggg
Today was awesome because p.e. was canceled so we got to go to the mall and hang out there & talk. I love the grapevine of gossip in schools. I learned so many interesting things about my classmates.
But after school (half day!) I went with my friend Anna to the Zuri See, or the Lake of Zurich, to take pictures and hang out.
We found so much gorgeous street art.
Plus we went to Starbucks. It was so unbelievably warm today. I think it's springtime?

Yesterday I got up late and then met Lara and her friend Cecilia to go hang out in Zurivh. We went to an old-fashioned photo booth, got Starbucks,

Ice skating & ranttttt
Today we had a double period lunch, which was cool because all the girls in my class all went out to eat together and we talked about space and technology and tried to solve random riddles and brain teaser type things. It was really fun to talk to people who find it actually interesting that NASA wants to colonize Mars instead of just being like "oh cool" and then talking about nail polish. Eh. Whatever.
Rant time again! *I don't hate the people I'm talking about here, I just think it's unbelievably rude what they're doing and I've lost respect for them*
So today we got to go watch what I'm pretty sure were random scenes from Italian operas performed by high-schoolers. Most people-including me-didn't get what was going on most of the play, because it was all in Italian and because it was that sort of abstract interpretation that certain directors like and no one understands.
But the people participating did really really well, and I was super impressed by how well some of them really got into character and could sing. So I quietly sat and watched what was obviously a very well-rehearsed and thought out presentation. It was definitely better than double French. However, a lot of people thought that the whole thing was *smacks gum* "ohmigod, like, SO boring, like, ya know?" Like, no, I didn't know, because I couldn't concentrate, because you were talking and literally listening to music while the performance was happening?? Shut up, listen, and get off your phone. Just because you're going nowhere in life doesn't mean you shouldn't support those who are. Also, next time you want to go get "so high, maaaaaan (I swear it's the best weed in all of Zurich-no, I SWEAR, bro)", do it after school and/or don't sit next to me PLEASE. You stink.
Anyways, then for p.e. we went ice skating! I am pretty horrible at it-probably because I've been about two times ever. So now I have bruises and I scraped through a few layers of skin on my legs. Wooo. But tomorrow is the last day of school before two weeks of vacation!

Philosophical discussions
Today we had two hours for lunch, and I went with six other girls from my class to the mall near the school. We literally talked the entire two hours about whether or not God is real, our purpose on Earth, etc. I love finding people my age that want to talk about random (boring to most people) stuff like religion, politics, or current events. I have friends in Montana that are into that type of stuff, but 98% of high schoolers in America aren't. And that's sad. Because younger people usually have a totally different way of looking at the world and interpreting it, and it's really cool. Ah well. Just another one of those things I am really really really going to miss about Switzerland... The younger generation's interest in actual ideas instead of One Direction.
My grandfather suddenly had a really bad backache yesterday, and barely was able to get into bed. My grandma called the doctor and the doctor gave him pain meds but they didn't do anything. They tried stronger meds that evening, and they still didn't work. So an ambulance came to pick him up and take him to the hospital this morning. Turns out he somehow broke two ribs! He has to stay for a few days until they figure out the most effective pain meds. I'm relieved that the pain wasn't something worse. Hopefully he gets better soon!

Google translate adventures
Today was a long day... And all the girls in my class, including myself, had super bad muscle (I can't think of the word- when you're muscles are sore from overworking? Cramp? Idk-So I tried to look it up because I only know the word in German. That's really wacky. So Google translate tells me...

Omg noodles
Today was a slightly more exciting day because study hall was canceled, so 5 of the girls in my class and I went out to eat in Zurich at a noodle place called Tsching, I believe. It was delicioussssss.
Yay the week is almost over! Happy almost Friday!

Friday! Christmas break!
Yay Christmas break!!! Today was super fun. We only had one hour of music in the morning because the second period was an orchestra concert, and choir was canceled because Christmas/the teachers are nice. So we had two hours for lunch, and three other girls and I went to the lake.
Then we had an hour less of math, because of the "atempause" I mentioned in my last post. I got to sing a song called "there's a girl that I love" (don't know who wrote it) that is in a round. It's super pretty and has like a secret message, a place, at the end when the round finishes. And a bunch of other classes did different things, basically it was a little celebration that there's a break, and happiness about the holiday season and the accomplishments of the school.
After I Skyped with my mom in the evening, Lara and Lea and I were going to go ice skating, but it started raining. So we had a movie night instead. It was still super fun. (My friend took this picture & I thought it was cool, so...)
I'm so excited it's finally Christmas break!

Happy day of school
Today was a usual day, except I went to lunch with a bunch of other girls from my class & then went shopping because we had a double lunch period. It was super fun. Tomorrow we are supposed to dress a bit more elegant, and I get to sing with my music class at the "atempause" (literally breath pause??) tomorrow instead of going to math. I don't really know what it is... I guess I'll find out. But only one more day until Christmas break! I'm so excited!
Also, I don't know if I mentioned this before, but our class is doing a secret Santa type thing, and I got a bunch of delicious chocolate from my secret Santa today:) Basically it was a good day.

Where does the time go?
Today I had a half day of school, then went and drank coffee with seven other girls from my class. It was the perfect way to spend a sunny afternoon. :)
Then I came home, did homework, and cleaned my entire room. The nice thing about having a smaller room with way less stuff is that it only takes an hour or two to completely clean it.
But seriously, how is it already almost Thursday? I was just bemoaning the fact that I had practically a whole week until the weekend, and boom, it's almost the weekend. Yippee!

Sweet Sweet Sixteen
So today was the best day ever. Seriously. I woke up and went to school, where my awesome classmates had put up balloons, a banner that said "Happy Birthday", and a type of cookie called "Zimtsterne" that is never had before. Then two girls from my class and I went to Starbucks for lunch just cause.
When I came home I unwrapped my presents from my friends/family back home and was super surprised. Thank you Katie, Miranda, and Grammy Susan!
I went to dinner with my grandparents and aunt and uncle and cousins, whence was super nice. Lara and I danced around outside to loud music afterwards. (I look like I'm in pain but I'm actually very passionately singing to Taylor Swift. I promise.)
Then I came home and unwrapped my presents from my Mom & Dad & Gage. Thank you all so much!
Pretty much the best birthday in the history of ever. <3

Pizza snail
Today we had a double lunch because "studium stunde" (study hall/class discussion period) got canceled! And apparently on Thursdays there is a market in the little square where we eat sometimes, so we went there. There was a little stand with bread and such, and I got a "pizza schnack" (pizza snail) which is like pizza in a cinnamon roll shape. And a roll with chocolate bits in it. Yummmm!
Today in p.e. We played basketball, which was super fun once again, because no one here can play. So I'm really good in comparison, which would never happen at home.
But one of my friends was astounded that I'd never had these things called Giotto. So she gave me a whole package of them. :) They're little creme-filled, crushed-hazelnut-covered things. Delicious.
We also had school late. Which means I got home at 6 ish. Meh.
Tomorrow's Friday! Yippee! And Halloween! (I'll be talking about Halloween in tomorrow's post-I'm doing something)

Friday! Week 9!
Today we had one period of Spanish that got cancelled. It was nice:)
There was a hot air balloon really close to the bus station and I tried to take a picture of of it because it was yellow with a black smiley face drawn on it which was really cute.
I had 5 minutes at home after school before I had to leave again... to a party at one of the kids in my class's house. It was fun and I'm super tired cause I got home late. Have you ever had roasted bananas and chocolate? It's really good. :)

Back to school
Today Geography was cancelled, so I got to go to school an hour later, which was awesome, because yesterday I couldn't sleep until late and the night before that I was on the plane, so I was very tired.
I went out for lunch with a bunch of other girls in my class, which was fun...
And we had a substitute from Peru in Spanish, and she gave a presentation and gave us candy made from corn. It was purple and really weird and yummy.

Fajitas
Today I cleaned my room, hung out with Lara, and went to a party. We made fajitas. We know how to party. $wag. Just kidding. It was fun. We listened to music and watched movies and such. Yippee for friendship!
Also, Dominic came home from Greece tonight, where he spent a week with his class. We get to go camping in Montana, here they go to a different country.
