Spain Day 5!

This morning Lara and I went shopping (for souvenirs and gifts and because everything is cheaper here) and met Oma & Opa for lunch with Dominic. I'm the only one in our group that knows more than two words in Spanish (besides my aunt, but she wasn't around) so I had the privilege of ordering our food... Which was neat. It's an awesome feeling of accomplishment when you successfully communicate with someone in another language. Also, I had pineapple juice because it sounded awesome. It was most awesome.
Then Lara & I went and got ice cream. Mine was snickers flavored! :)
We walked back up to the hotel and changed into our swim stuff to hang out by the pool. And that's all we did all afternoon. :)
We had dinner at the hotel, and then went to a little outcrop to watch the sunset. Lara and I took some really neat pictures.

We leave tomorrow! I want to stay... This has been such a fun vacation, I really hope to come back to Spain again someday!

Strawberries & sunsets

I sound like a broken record because in almost every post I mention the weather. My excuse: I walk to and from school every day, so I really notice the weather, and there are a lot more sunny days here than in Montana, so I appreciate them more. Therefore I am again going to say that today was absolutely gorgeous.

I've also been getting more and more interested in photography, and I want to maybe start a blog for just my pictures. I'm not 100% sure yet. :) But anyways, here are some cute strawberries we had for dessert today, and a shot of the sunset because I liked the clouds.

By the way, it's the 31st anniversary of the day that the Breakfast Club kids met for detention!

It's seriously Monday again

I'm about 97% sure that yesterday was Wednesday. According to my phone it is not. *blank face*

School was nice today, and I bought new makeup *cheers*

Also, the sunset was gorgeous. :)

School again. Noooooo

Today I did homework and got all my stuff ready for school again. *cries*

The sky was so gorgeous today I took a bunch of pictures. And a time-lapse of the sunset. :)

Presents(!!!)

I dorm like to get out the wrapping paper and tape and scissors and markers and paper and cards and bows and such to wrap presents with until I have all the presents I want to wrap. Which means I wrapped all my Christmas presents today! It's really strange picking out presents for people that I usually don't, and not giving things to my brother and parents. Meh. I have way fewer presents to give this year. Only my grandparents and cousins and aunt and uncle.

Only two more days until Christmas! Yippee! This was the sunset when I was walking home with my grandma after grocery shopping. 😱 So gorgeous.

Happy November!

Yippee! Only 10 days until my birthday :)

Today I slept in a bit, did laundry, finished an English presentation, organized over 1,000 pictures from my phone to my laptop, and did a little bit of history homework. Then I went and hung out with Lara and took pictures at sunset, which turned out really cool.
Before dinner Lara and I "carved" Rüben (turnips!). Apparently it is a tradition here to carve not pumpkins, but turnips. (Also, it's not to celebrate Halloween, but all saints day, I think. Don't quote me on that. I'm tired, ok?) However, they're not carved like we carve pumpkins. You hollow out the turnip, then carefully peel off the skin in the places where you want the light to shine through a bit more. It's really neat.

Friday! Week 10!

Happy Halloween!

Sadly, most people don't celebrate Halloween here in Switzerland. I think that is massively depressing.

I decided to have a little fun and do my eye makeup in zebra-print and wear a zebra-print shirt, just because.
When I came home there was a gorgeous sunset, so of course I took a picture of that...
I hope everyone has an awesome Halloween!

Seilpark again

Today Lara and I went and got gipfeli (croissant-type things) from the bakery for breakfast, and then hopped in the car with aunt Claudia and uncle Ralph. We drove an hour or so to a seilpark (the same one I went to with my german class this past summer!) where we met up with my uncles brother, which is technically also my uncle, I guess. Idk. That's weird.
Anyways, we met up with him and his three kids and went climbing and ziplining around in the trees. It was super fun. Apparently I cannot keep myself from shaking when I get up high, though. It's really weird. I'm not scared of heights at all, but i start shaking like crazy. At least I learned something new today.
After that, we ate ice cream at a little restaurant thing and drove back home. On the way home the sun was so gorgeous; I took a zillion pictures.

Rainy Sunday

Today we got up late and went to the United Nations office. (the one here is the second-largest in the world!)
We went to visit the Jet d'Eau de Genève (Geneva water fountain) and it was raining like crazy. The fountain is a huge tourist attraction normally, but since it was so rainy we were the only people there. Woop woop.
We found another weird car...
And apparently I was feeling particularly fabulous when we were inside some old building with columns.
The sky in the evening was super pretty, it was literally purple. #nofilter
For dinner we had a traditional Swiss food called raclette. It's basically raclette cheese heated up and then poured over potatoes, and you can add bread, pickles, meat, or basically anything you want to it. It's really yummy.

Rain Randomness

Yesterday it was super rainy, and of course that was the day we decided to fix up all the bikes. On the way back home Lara decided to come with me... So we had some fun.
Apparently I'm hilarious when I'm struggling to get a bike up or down stairs...
I ran out of memory on my phone so I imported them all to my laptop and then to a USB drive and then deleted them from my phone. I think I take too many pictures...
I didn't go by the baby bottle today, but I edited a beautifully professional picture:
Today for dessert at lunch I had chocolate because I'm so addicted. Chocolate is so freaking good here!!!
Tonight the sky was doing its usual beautiful thing so I had to take a picture.

I can speak Spanish?

This weekend I basically just did homework and talked to friends. I did make some gorgeous little avatars for my family because I was bored... Voila.
Also one of me because yay
There was also a gorgeous sunset on Sunday evening, I couldn't reach my phone quickly enough to take a good picture so here's an ok picture.
Today was another interesting day at school... In Spanish we had to memorize a paragraph and then present it to the class as a way of getting familiar with the pronunciation and such of he language. I did my thing and (mostly) memorized it, and a girl came up to me after class and was like "omg have you had Spanish before ur really good at speaking like super fast omg like wow" and I was confused because I've never taken Spanish....? So anyways, that was fun.

After school today I had voice lessons and as I was walking up to the music building a little (12/13 years old?) student decided to pass me all swaggy-like walking that weird way some guys do when their pants don't fit right I don't know... And I almost literally laughed out loud at him because he had the saggy pants, the weird suspenders as a fashion statement, a hat on backwards with Mickey hands rolling a joint, and the earbuds blasting rock music. So I decided to be a weirdo and take a picture. It was hilarious. (I'm not a stalker, I promise).
I had a little bit of time before my train came after my voice lesson so I got to read some German and eat cookies!!! (The cookie is a mini version of something called a "Spitzbueb" which means something along the lines of boy-with-attitude literally translated)
Also, I have found this app called Duolingo and it basically reviews/teaches you another language in 5-20 minutes a day (you pick your "goal"). It's really cool, and I've been using it for a few days.

End of summer

School starts tomorrow! (Eep!) and I'm going to miss this weirdly rainy summer. I went to the pool:
Went on some trips:
Decorated a tshirt with my cousin:
Skyped friends for a long time:
Made a bag from an old sheet and decorated it:
Enjoyed some beautiful sunsets:
And made a ladybug friend. It decided to fly into my room and onto my laptop to help me with my math. Best math buddy ever.

Rome!

Today we got up early and flew to Rome. Apparently flying to here is cheaper than taking the train...
There are people everywhere! Today we went to the Pantheon (with a giant oculus at the top, open to the sky-a choir was singing and the acoustics were amazing!), Sant'Ignazio (church of St. Ignatius-the ceiling is flat, but painted to look curved!!) the Fontana de Trevi (a famous fountain that is part of a lot of movies-sadly it was closed for renovations today), and some obelisks.
What I learned today:
The Romans were obsessed with Egyptian things. They hauled an entire pyramid over from Egypt just because.
Facts of the day:
Our taxi driver was named Mario.
There are 13 Egyptian obelisks around Rome. We saw 2 today.

Fun times

Yesterday we went to a dinner with my cousins, Dominic and Lara. We played games and listened to music... It was fun. This was the gorgeous sunset on the way home.
Today I went to Blau ring, which is like a girl scout-type thing here with Lara. We had a muffin-decorating contest, and guess who won? This girl:) Here's a picture of my cupcake... It's modeled off of Olaf from the Disney movie Frozen. (The white bits around him are him melting;))
After we decorated muffins, we went to the Sihl river, which is about 5 minutes away from where my grandparents live. We played in the water and walked across the rocks over the river to get home.
Tonight we went to the "badi" (pool) and went night-swimming with Dominic and Lara. I've never been night-swimming, and it was super exciting.

Tomorrow is Dominic's confirmation, and then we get to go to lunch with some relatives:) Busy, busy, busy!
